The Earth Is Flat
I would like to coin the term "flat earth mindset." Allow me to explain my definition. Hundreds of years ago, the overwhelming majority of the world population believed the earth was flat. Surprisingly, many scientists, philosophers, and a variety of other people had credible evidence to prove that the earth was indeed spherical, yet their arguments often went unheard. At worst, these people were condemned to death, asylum, or excommunication. At best, they were humiliated and ignored. The ignorant masses "knew" that the earth was flat, and they neither wanted nor cared to hear otherwise. It took hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years for people to accept and sincerely believe that the earth was spherical, NOT flat as had been thought for centuries. Keep this in mind when introducing any concept that goes against conventional "wisdom". People cling to tradition despite contradictory evidence. Never try to convince the masses as a whole. Simply educate those few special people who are looking for a better way, those brave souls who are open to exploring new information and changing their mindset. People with a fixed mindset will drain you. Let them live in a myth, because you will wear yourself out trying to convince them otherwise.

everything we ever wanted
I believe that we all have everything we want, in nearly all aspects of our life, yet people fail to realize that some wants are exclusive of other desires. For example, let's say you want to have the body of Brad Pitt (as he appeared in Fight Club for example), but you also want cheeseburgers from Rally's and a large milkshake, a late night taco run to Jack in the Box, a 12-pack of brews, and a breakfast consisting of cinnamon rolls, a chocolate-dipped granola bar, and 4 cups of coffee. Obviously, you can have one or the other: a body like Brad Pitt, or a bunch of fatty foods (and the resulting fat ass). Not that there's anything wrong with a fat ass, it's just not similar to the ass of Brad Pitt, the one you thought you wanted so much. So, if you choose the fatty foods, it's because you wanted them more than you wanted the chiseled body. If you want them more than you want the body, and you recognize that they are exclusive desires, then you should accept the fact that you do not want a fit body. Most members of our society have a lottery mentality, and think, "I'd like to have that kind of body, but I don't want a strict diet or rigorous exercise routine, I am not willing to make any sacrifices to achieve that fitness level, and I possess no dedication to actually achieving such a body with the sweat and tears necessary." How does this relate to business and financial success? Well, how many people do you know who want to be tremendously wealthy? Let's face it, everyone wants to be rich as hell! (with the exception of my mother, who has no desire for riches, just a desire that all her needs are met...sounds a bit contradictory, but I still love her philosophy :). Yet these are the same people who will do NOTHING to become wealthy. They won't leave MySpace alone for an hour a day, turn the TV off when CSI or American Idol comes on, and hell, most won't even leave the house if a million bucks was in the road outside their depressingly average home. Here's a scenario: I offer someone 10 million dollars with the conditions that he/she walks 1 mile a day for an entire year, and abstains from soda and coffee during that same year. Upon completion of the task and the entire 1 year period, I pay her/him 10 million dollars cash to ring in the new year and he/she is then free to do as they please for the rest of their natural life. Honestly, how many people would be able to complete this pursuit? Allow me to answer... very very very few. Just imagine all of the amazing excuses people will create to explain why, on that particular day, during the 1 year assignment, they just couldn't walk the mile. Sickness, back pain, foot pain, alien invasion, lost shoes, broken toes, house burned down (seriously, people have used this fabrication more often than you think). I don't want to imagine all the excuses for the soda and coffee slips that would inevitably occur for most people. My point is that certain desires require sacrifice and come at the expense of other desires. Though oftentimes minimal, even the most unobtrusive sacrifices prove too difficult for most people. We all know how to lose weight, how to quit smoking, how to make more money, how to be positive, how to improve our relationships with family and friends, etc etc, but are we willing to pay the price? It is necessary to forfeit some immediately gratifying habits for long-term achievement in more valuable areas.
My blog is going to focus on entrepreneurs and people seeking financial freedom, especially employees who are struggling to break free of their corporate chains. I plan on discussing a variety of topics that intertwine with business and financial success, along with personal development and life philosophies. I will have informative surveys with user feedback, updated links to current training from respected leaders, and an assortment of great content. My goal is to help you prosper by solidifying your vision and helping you take action to make your vision a reality.
